Curious George will visit for a special storytime! Children of all ages are welcome. Experience stories, creative movement, music and more. We explore the early literacy skills of singing, playing, reading, talking, and writing in each storytime. There will be opportunities to take photos.
Explore repujado, the traditional art of metal embossing, in this hands-on workshop led by visiting artist, Linda Garcia. Participants will learn how to create beautiful raised designs on soft metal using simple tools and techniques and create their own unique piece to take home. This is a free event for teens 13-18. No registration is required.
Love the weird and fantastical? Dive into the incredible world of cryptids! Enjoy games, a scavenger hunt, reading, and a craft activity. This is a free event for ages 5-12. Registration is encouraged/required
Join OPL for a cuddly and creative adoption day at the library in celebration of National Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month in October! Children are invited to listen to a tail-wagging read-aloud about pet adoption, then choose from a variety of different animal plushies to "adopt" and take home. Each animal plushie comes with the option to create a collar and special house along with the completion of an adoption certificate. Kids will have time to name their new friend and imagine fun adventures together. Come for the stories and fun-leave with a snuggly new companion! Select locations will have furry and scaly visitors from the Nebraska Humane Society! Check with the branch for more details. This is a free event for kids ages 3-10. Registration is required.
Calling all manga fans! Hang out, read, chat, and geek out over your favorite manga while making fun, manga-inspired crafts. Join for a teen-only hangout where you can dive into crafts, try out games, explore cool hobbies, and chill with friends in a space full of music and good vibes. Come spark your imagination and discover something new! This is a free program for teens 13-18 years old.
