Join at the library for WhyArts Kids on the Block, an engaging educational puppet program designed for children in grades K–4. Through lively performances and interactive storytelling, this special event introduces children to what it’s like to live with a disability. Each puppet is operated by a puppeteer who shares the same disability, making the overall message authentic and relevant.

Calling all gamers! Have a blast learning how to code while building robotic games to test your code. You will learn about sequencing commands, value and sensor inputs, and loops. This month you will create a racecar. Registration is required

Become the best babysitter you can be! Training will include a babysitting guidebook, basic first aid, and age-appropriate practices for caring for infants, preschoolers, toddlers, and school age youth. The clinic is taught by Nebraska 4-H Extension staff. This is a free program for ages 11 and up. Registration is required

Learn what the team at NWR does, what it takes to become a wildlife rehabilitator, and how animals end up needing care in the first place. Explore each step of the rehabilitation journey—from intake and treatment to release back into the wild. This engaging program is perfect for anyone curious about animal care and the important work of helping injured wildlife. This program is for patrons 6+. Registration is required.

What were living conditions like for soldiers and prisoners of war during the American Revolution? Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with the Omaha Public Library! This year they’re celebrating the ways America has changed over the last 250 years through a year-long lecture series. Each month we’ll offer a different presentation from local experts on American history, culture, or experience.

Dragons, heroes, magical worlds, and epic quests! In this interactive workshop, young writers will learn how to create their own fantasy graphic novel story. Participants will invent characters, build imaginative worlds, and write the first page of their own comic adventure. Perfect for kids who love fantasy, storytelling, and comics! July Theme: Experiments! Get ready to get a little messy! This summer we’re keeping our STEM skills sharp and our hypotheses ready with kid’s experiments. Experiments will use simple household items, may vary depending on age range, and come with all necessary safety equipment. If weather allows, a portion of the program will take place outside.
