• STEAM Teens: Croc Charms

    Get ready to enter back to school sport mode and dec out your new shoes with croc charms! In this month’s STEAM teens, participants will design, print, and assemble croc charms for shoes. Using either Tinkercad or Bambu Studio, teens will have free creative time to design a custom charm before printing in the second half of the program. This is a free event for teens 13+.   • Curiosity Crew: Leaves

    Curiosity Crew is back with a brand new look! Starting this month Curiosity Crew is specifically developed for kids six and under with their parent or caretaker. Each month we’ll cover a brand new science topic and complete an activity or art project associated with it.   • Bad Art for Teens

    Never won an award for art? No problem, you can win one for the worst art project at the OPL Teen Bad Art event! Teens ages 13-18 are encouraged to let their creativity run wild as they will have access to a wide variety of supplies to produce a piece of Bad Art. All artistic abilities are welcome, from the Monets and Van Goghs to the “Picass-oh nos!”

    Kids, parents, teachers, and fans! Come meet Keenan Jones, the author of the picture book, "Saturday Morning at the ‘Shop", illustrated by Ken Daley, which follows a young boy who discovers the vital role a neighborhood barbershop plays in community and culture. A 2022 Mirrors and Windows Fellow with The Loft Literary Center, Keenan also teaches writing workshops and speaks on the importance of literacy, representation, and storytelling.

  • Pet Plushie Adoption Day

    Join OPL for a cuddly and creative adoption day at the library in celebration of National Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month in October! Children are invited to listen to a tail-wagging read-aloud about pet adoption, then choose from a variety of different animal plushies to "adopt" and take home. Each animal plushie comes with the option to create a collar and special house along with the completion of an adoption certificate. Kids will have time to name their new friend and imagine fun adventures together. Come for the stories and fun-leave with a snuggly new companion!
