  • Ozobots at Baright Library

    Baright Public Library 5555 South 77th St, Ralston, NE, United States

    Kids are introduced to basic computer programming by exploring codes and programs using the Ozobot! The Ozobot is a miniature robot with color sensors that allow it to follow lines and read color codes to complete commands. In this program, youth will learn and draw basic color codes, integrate color codes into storytelling, and use Ozoblockly - an online coding program to explore sequential block coding. This class is taught by 4-H School Enrichment teachers. Class size is limited, so registration is required.

  • Blues performance with CA Waller “I Got the Blues, and I Can’t Be Satisfied”

    Award-winning blues artist C.A. Waller, has been singing and playing the blues throughout the Midwest and South for more than 50 years. Through performance, storytelling, and a discussion of historical context Mr. Waller presents the musical styles, personal stories, and cultural background of the blues, and the people who sang and lived the blues. The story of the blues is the story of the establishment and development of the African-American society in our country, and the valuable contribution its practitioners have made to our collective culture. C.A. Waller is dedicated to the preservation of this unique oral tradition.

  • Music of Ireland at Baright Library

    Take a musical journey to the Emerald Isle on Monday, March 10 from 12:00-1:00PM with musician David Marsh.
    From Sligo to the Ring of Kerry, and from Galway Bay to Dublin, Marsh presents various musical styles from the Emerald Isle. He uses many instruments, including the accordion, pennywhistle, Northumbrian pipes and bodhran (Irish drum), to perform jigs, reels, rebel songs, and sing-a-longs. His stories tell of Irish legends, elves and fairies, historical events of famine and wars, and the joys and sorrows of immigrating to a new land. David has performed Irish folk music for over 20 years with local Irish bands Paddywhack and Ellis Island, the later of which can be heard regularly in Omaha and the Kansas City area.

    It may still be winter, it’s not too early to start planning for spring! The library is proud to host another Seed Share event from 10AM - 12PM on Saturday, February 1. They will have envelopes available for those bringing their own seeds to share. Don’t have seeds to bring? No problem, we have plenty to go around! We hope to see you there! Like last year, someone from the Nebraska Master Gardener Program will be onsite to answer gardening-related questions. We will also have volunteers from Ralston High School’s FFA program, Nancy Crews from Milkweed Matters, and other special guests. Seeds were generously donated by Ace Hardware, The Big Garden, Grass Pad, Indian Creek Nursery, Lowe's, Mulhall's, Paradigm Gardens, and Whispering Roots.
