Fun Events in Omaha St. Patrick’s Day Weekend!
How are you going to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this weekend? If you live in Omaha, it is going to be absolutely beautiful weather! Here are the following local events to help you celebrate!
- NCAA tournament at the Century Link Center on Friday, March 16th and Sunday, March 18th – I love March Madness! It is my favorite sporting event of the entire year, especially the first weekend of games. Downtown will be hopping with a lot of excited hoops fans, add in St. Patrick’s Day, and it will be one fun weekend!
- Cheer on the Creighton Bluejays who play at 12:40pm on Friday! Go Bluejays!
- Great weather – enjoy it at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo! Add on the Wildlife Safari Park to a zoo membership for only $20 before April 1st. This also includes admission to the Imax Theater!
- Great Green Gnome Hunt at Arbor Day Tree Farm Adventure in Nebraska City, Nebraska, March 12th – 26th. With clues and a map, journey through the Tree Adventure to find all 12 forest gnomes!
- Many St. Patrick’s Day themed crafts and storytimes at Omaha Public Libraries! Registration required at some of the events. Check their calendar for the latest information
- Saturday Surprise Kids’ Program at Joslyn Art Museum – Canopic Jars on March 17th. Join us every other Saturday from 10 am–noon for a self-guided art project at Joslyn! Remember FREE General Admission to the Joslyn on Saturdays, 10am-12.
- Marcus Theatres® and American Family Insurance® invite you on Saturday mornings at 10am and Sunday mornings at 11am (except in Sheboygan, WI) to enjoy favorite family movies for only $2! Check here for your nearest participating Marcus Theatre® location! In Nebraska, this includes Village Pointe Cinema in Omaha and Twin Creek Cinema in Bellevue.
- March 17-18 – Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked
- Family Skate on Sunday, March 18th from 2:15-4:30pm. Only $10 for a family of four, and $3 for each additional person. This includes admission, skate rentals, popcorn, and drink.
- Callahan Promotions, Inc. Arts & Craft Show at the Mid-America Center will be held on Saturday, March 17th, 9-5, and on Sunday, March 18th, 9-4. This show is one of Iowa’s largest, with over 200 exhibitors from 7 states presenting and selling the Midwest’s finest handcrafts.
- There are many area Fish Fries to enjoy Friday night!

Shadow Lake Towne Center Kids Club
Shadow Lake Towne Center offers Kids Club, a FREE hour of fun for children. A different activity is featured in a different store / restaurant each month. Register early since these tend to fill-up quickly! The next one will be held on Thursday, April 12th, 10:30-11:30am at Red Robin.

Annual Omaha St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Saturday!
The 2012 Omaha Ancient Order of Hibernians St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held Saturday, March 10th at 10:00am, in Downtown Omaha (Old Market). The Parade starts at 15th & Howard Streets, go EAST on Harney to 11th Street, SOUTH to Howard Street, and WEST to 14th Street.

Lowe’s Free Build and Grow Clinics – 3/10 and 3/24
Lowe’s offers FREE Build and Grow clinics on Saturdays at 10am. Bring the kids to any Lowe’s store to build fun projects. This is recommended for children in grades 1st-5th. The upcoming activities are:

Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo Membership – Add On Wildlife Safari Park Now for Only $20!
I Love the Omaha Zoo!
We went there this morning to enjoy this absolutely perfect day (OK a little windy, but 70+ degrees in March is a blessing!). I think the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo membership is a fantastic deal, but new this year, you can add on a Season Pass to the Wildlife Safari Park for only $20 (increases to $25 after April 1st)! This pays for itself in one visit with a family of four!

For any membership level, you receive admission to the Zoo AND the IMAX Theater, and discounts to many zoo activities. It also includes reciprocal membership to over 100 zoos nationwide – great for travelling!

NEW Westroads Kids Club – Omaha
Westroads is starting a Kid’s Club that will be held on the first Wednesday of every month. The first event is on March 7th from 10:30-11:30am, and will feature the Amazing Bubble Show presented by the Omaha Children’s Museum.
At the Omaha Children’s Museum’s most popular science show, you will experience giant bubbles that float, bubbles that turn into smoke and even bubbles you can stand in! Science comes alive when children learn the scientific method, watch and participate in great experiments that all revolve around one of our most favorite playthings, BUBBLES. Come join in the fun of The Amazing Bubble Show!
The first 220 kids will receive an amazing bubble gift to take home to create their own science!
Membership is FREE and you’ll receive a FREE cookie from The Cookie Company, for each child you enroll in the Kid’s Club. As a member, kids also receive a birthday gift; a FREE Child Admission Pass to Rave Motion Pictures, to help celebrate their special day. Birthday gifts are available while supplies last and can be picked up at the next Kid’s Club event during your child’s birthday month.
