Best Things to Do this Week in Omaha June 5th – June 11th
Monday June 5th:
Take & Make: Wind-Powered Car (9:00 – 10:00 am)
Green & Sustainable! This week’s Take & Make includes the materials for a DIY wind-powered car! All materials and instructions provided.
This is an in-building, registered program. Here’s what you need to know to attend:
- This program is for children between the ages of 6-12.
- A parent/guardian is required to accompany child/ren during class. One registration per child. Please use the child’s name when registering.
Tuesday June 6th:
Kid Coders: Basic Game Design (5:00 pm – 6:00 pm)
- Want to recreate one of the oldest video games in history? An easy-to-follow introduction to the fundamentals of coding! Inside the beginner-friendly Scratch coding language, we’ll be exploring the basics of several coding concepts, learning simple logic design, and having some fun!
This is an in-building, registered program. Here’s what you need to know to attend:

Wednesday June 7th:
Doughnut Wars – (2:00 – 3:00 pm) (REGISTER)
- Florence Branch
- Come join OPL for some baking! Each participant will be mixing, baking, and decorating their own doughnuts which will then be “judged” by staff and peers in the style of a baking competition show.
- All doughnuts made can be taken home and eaten! This program is for children ages 8-12. Registration is required.
Thursday June 8th:
Jurassic Nebraska @ Omaha Children’s Museum
OPEN NOW! Experience what life would be like if dinosaurs were around in our everyday life; toss a football against some ferocious defenders, explore and discover fossils in a giant dig pit, climb Chimney Rock to look a T-Rex in the eye, and more!
Friday June 9th:
Ice Cream Celebration – June 9 (11:30 am)
- All Ages.
- Join us at Southwind Park for a storytime, ice cram, and to celebrate a community hero.
- Special Guest: Allen Phillips, Metro Facilities Management Supervisor.

Lowe’s Lawn Mower Photo Holder Kids Workshop – June 10 (10 am – Noon), FREE (REGISTER)
- Your little landscaper’s first mower is also a great gift for Dad! This workshop will have kids building their own Riding Lawn Mower toy & photo holder – just in time for Father’s Day
