Storytime with Saint Nick – Dec. 15 (10 a.m.)
- Followed by a Christmas craft. Location: La Vista Public Library (9110 Giles Road). For infants and children 5 years old and younger (not in kindergarten).
Hands-on-Habitat at Fontenelle Forest – Dec. 16 (9:30 – 11 a.m.), Free with Registration
- ParentSavvy and Fontenelle Forest are partnering together to provide fun educational, hands-on classes for pre-school age children and parents, offered FREE up to 3 times/year with registration and promo code “ParentSavvy”.
Holiday Lights Spectacular at Midtown Crossing – Nov. 26 – Jan. 1, Nightly Thursday – Sunday at 7 p.m., FREE
- A choreographed blend of light and holiday music projected onto Midtown Crossing’s condominium buildings, the Holiday Lights Spectacular will run approx. 20-minutes every Thursday thru Sunday night. – Saturday, Nov. 26, thru Sunday Jan. 1, 2016 – starting at 7 p.m.
Gingerbread House Display at the Mormon Trail Center and Kanesville Tabernacle – Nov. 19 – Dec. 31 (10 a.m. – 8 p.m.)
- One of our favorite Christmas traditions is seeing the intricately designed Gingerbread Houses. They also have a fun Scavenger Hunt at each location with a picture option for the younger children.
- The center closes at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
- Location: 3215 State Street, Omaha, and 222 East Broadway, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Prancer at The Rose Theater – Nov. 25 – Dec. 18
- The world premiere of this stage adaptation features a heartwarming story and breathtaking puppetry that will bring light to the holiday season. Performances on Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Lights of Aksarben – Fridays, Dec. 2, 9, 16 (6 – 8 p.m.)
- Heated tent, free horse and carriage rides, live music, and more.
Platte River State Park Yule Log Festival – Dec. 17 (12 – 5:30 p.m.)
- Teams will compete in a scavenger hunt challenge to find the yule log. The day will also include hayrack rides and family events with crafts and storytime for the kids. A Park Entry Permit is required. *Note: Please call ahead for weather updates in case this event is cancelled.
Ho-Ho-Holiday Open House – Dec. 17 (1 – 4 p.m.), FREE
- Enjoy FREE pictures with Santa, fun activities, holiday refreshments and tours of the newly opened Lauritzen Outpatient Center, 4014 Leavenworth Street. Find out more here!
FREE Carriage Rides
Carriage Rides at Village Pointe – Saturdays, Nov. 26 – Dec. 17 (1 – 5 p.m.) Rescheduled to to Friday, December 23rd from 1-5 p.m.
- Take a horse and carriage ride down Village Pointe’s Main Street. Catch the carriage in front of Marcus Theaters near the fireplace. Weather permitting.
Carriage Rides at Shadow Lake Towne Center – Saturdays, Dec. 3 – 17 (1 – 4 p.m) RESCHEDULED carriage rides this weekend to Friday, 12/23 from 12 – 4 p.m.
- Come Saturday, December 3rd and every Saturday through the 17th and enjoy complimentary Carriage Rides at Shadow Lake Towne Center. Rides will run from 1 – 4 p.m. Weather permitting.
Omaha Public Library Holiday Events – Dec. 1 – 31, FREE
- Enjoy many special Holiday Events including Santa visits, special storytimes, crafts, and more at Omaha Public Libraries. Some events may require registration (RR)

- Come for an evening of jumping, swinging, playing and more. Santa will be there from 6 – 7 p.m. $9 per child (2 and under FREE with paying sibling). Free for members.
Where Books and Art Meet with Arts for All (Registration Required) – Dec. 17 (2:30 – 3:30 p.m.), FREE
- Explore your creative side every week with art projects based on books and illustrations. Classes are taught by professional artists and art teachers in partnership with Arts For All. For children ages 8-12. Location: South Omaha Library.
Hitchcock Nature Center Winter Extravaganza – Dec. 18 (2 – 4 p.m.)
- Winter crafts, activities & exploration in Iowa’s winter wonderland. Free will donation. Park permit required.

Family Skate at Motto McLean Ice Arena – Sundays, Dec. 4, 11, 18 (4:00 – 6:15 p.m.)
