Back to School Programs with the Omaha Public Library – 8/5 – 8/15, FREE
- Join the Omaha Public Library for a variety of back to school events to help students prepare for a successful school year. All events are free and open to the public.
Where Books and Art Meet – 8/15, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., FREE, Registration Required
- Explore your creative side every week with art projects based on books and illustrations. Classes meet at South Omaha Library and are taught by professional artists and art teachers in partnership with Arts For All. For children ages 8-12.
Summer Send-Off & Teacher Appreciation Day at Gifford Farm – 8/15, 6 – 9 p.m.
- Evening hayride, visit the farm animals, and learn, play, and explore in their Outdoor Nature Classroom. Stay late to watch the stars come out, roast some marshmallows (available for purchase), and hear some stories about the stars. Admission is $5/each ages 2 & up. 1/2 price with military I.D. Cash or check only (no credit access).

Hitchcock Nature Center: Night Sky Event – 8/15, 8:30 p.m. – Midnight, $2/person
- Astronomers will help identify objects in the summer night sky as well as the Perseids’ Meteor Shower. Hitchcock Nature Center is located 5 miles north of Crescent off of the Old Lincoln Highway.
