- Family-friendly fishing activities at Nebraska State Parks and Recreation Areas. Free Park Entry and Fishing Day is an annual opportunity where the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission allows fishing and entry to parks without requiring permits.
Fishing Clinic and Fun Day at Platte River State Park – 5/16, FREE
- 9 – 11 a.m. Fishing Clinic
- There will be naturalist activities going on all day including birding opportunities, a reptile exhibit, wildlife identification, and more! Around dusk, a family-friendly movie will be shown.
Omaha Heritage Festival and Parade – 5/16, Lewis and Clark Landing, FREE
- Celebrate Omaha’s Heritage with parade, exhibitor tents, international food, live music, and children’s activities. The event is free of charge for the cultural participants and the general public. Donations are welcome.
- Parade starts at 10 a.m. and ends at Lewis & Clark where the festival kicks off at 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Paddle Demo by Canfield’s Sporting Goods – 5/16, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Join Canfield’s Sporting Goods for paddle sport demonstrations at Cunningham Lake. Visit with paddle sport experts and try out kayaks and stand up paddleboards for free.
Exotic Animal Day at Gifford Farm – 5/16, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. $5 (ages 2 & up), 1/2 price with military I.D.
- Visit the farm animals and the not-so-typical farm animals with Gifford Farm’s own Exotic Animals program, and explore in our Outdoor Nature Classroom.
Mangelsen’s 54th Anniversary Celebration – 5/16, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

- Grand Opening and dedication of the new fully accessible Benson Park playground, sprayground and fishing pier. Following the 12 p.m. dedication there will be FREE food, live music from the Dirty River Ramblers, and the Indie Jr. at 1 p.m. – a fun run around the Benson Park Lagoon.

Princess Treasure Hunt and Tea Party – 5/28
- Join princesses for a treasure hunt in Elmwood Park, followed by a tea party in the Pavilion with cupcakes and sweets!
- Reserve your spot now as only a few tickets will be available for each session – 5 sessions available. Parents and children ages 3 and up are $8.00 (+ $1.40 ticket fee). Siblings under 3 are free with a paid ticket.
