The Omaha Children’s Museum is one of our favorite places to visit, especially as the weather begins to get cooler. Their new exhibit, Itty Bitty City, is inspired by places in the Omaha area and offers kids a variety of experiences to explore, climb, play dress-up, drive, build, ride, cook, and learn.
We began our visit exploring the bulldozer, one of the many small replicas of city vehicles and trucks. Imagine a kid-size touch-a-truck event, with a police car, city bus, and ambulance, perfect for little people to explore.
Kids loved honking the horn on the Werner truck and moving packages with a dolly in the back, while others played at the airport, playset, and mini golf nearby. One of the biggest hits was the Expressway full of trikes and bikes for little ones to ride, complete with a gas pump and construction cones.
At the Itty Bitty Channel 6 News, we created our own newscast, and shared the weather report in front of the green screen. It was so fun to see ourselves on the screen as if we really were on TV!
Finally, after so much play, it was time for lunch! We could take orders, create pizzas, and put them in the box ready to be delivered. Look at the yummy pizza we created!
We were there 1.5 hours, and still had not explored everything. We are looking forward to returning to visit the Fire Training Center incuding a fire pole and play area, Bitty Borsheims, City Vet, Mini Mutual of Omaha, Security National Bank, and Water Works.
Itty Bitty City will be open through April 14 during regular museum hours. Admission is $2 in addition to regular museum admission which is $9 for adults and children ages 2 to 59.
As much as we have loved past exhibits including the Dinosaurs and The Wizard of Oz, I think Itty Bitty City will quickly become one of our favorites!
